It’s not every day that I take to this blog to write about construction schedules – but this is big news! We're so dedicated to our 3D flash memory offering, BiCS FLASH, that we're building a new, state-of-the-art facility to expand its production – and construction is set to begin in February 2017.
Located at our Yokkaichi Operations in Mie, Japan, the new fab will be constructed in two phases, with completion of the first phase scheduled for summer 2018.
Cool facts: Our new fab will have a quake absorbing structure and an environmentally friendly design that includes LED lighting throughout the building. It will also utilize an advanced production system that uses artificial intelligence (AI).
